Some new happenings

I decided to go to my nephew's wedding in the Nauvoo temple on Feb. 19. As an added bonus I got to see my mom and dad who came home from their mission to attend. It was fun to see Krista and her family. Then I came to Kansas to visit my family and help Diane prepare to move. My plan was to stay until Friday then go to the OKC temple with my family again and then drive on back to Arkansas. However, I got sick and spent Friday, Saturday, and most of Sunday in bed at my sister's home (I thought I would let my daughter have her weekend with her husband). I am finally starting to feel better and will probably head back to Arkansas tomorrow or Thursday.

Today I had a fun experience though. A friend has a couple Golden Retrievers that she has trained as search and rescue dogs. She asked my sisters that are living in Wichita and I if we would like to go out with her on a training exercise and let her dogs find us. So we went and did that and had a blast. They came and searched for us twice and we did a lot of hiking in the woods (or at least as much of woods as you get in KS...lol). They were very good at finding us too. It was sure a fun way to get my exercise in for the day :)

Am I really in Arkansas???

On February 9 we woke up to this:
I started shoveling but it kept snowing...

It finally quit about 2pm and I could finally make some progress.

These trees are about 6 feet tall.
The backyard was quite impressive too.
A close up of the bird bath...WOW!!
Rusty even had to shovel the covered back porch.
 Baby, it's COLD outside!!

FIRE!!

So...this afternoon we went to church as usual. Everything started fine but halfway through the Sacrament hymn the fire alarm started ringing. We sat in the chapel on the opposite side of our car and we had to exit to the nearest door so we stood out in the cold waiting for the all clear from the fire department. It seemed they took a long time to get there but it was probably only 5-10 minutes. Luckily we had our coats but there was a brisk north breeze so it was still rather chilly. We were sure wishing we had the 73 degrees from yesterday!! So after standing outside for about 15 minutes I thought it was too cold for my 84 year old mother-in-law so we went inside to stand between the doors. We finally were able to go back in about 1:40pm (1pm church here) but then were immediately told the all clear had not sounded and to head back out. This time we decided to just go home as this was just too much for my MIL but on the way out the door on the side of the chapel where our car was we got the official all clear. So we went back inside, sat down, and they resumed the meeting about 1:45. We started the hymn again, had the sacrament, and then a member of the stake presidency spoke after which the three speakers bore their testimonies instead of giving their talks. It turned out to be a very good meeting and am glad we stuck it out.

Oh...it ended up being an electrical problem that set off the sensor. There was no fire.

SNOW in Arkansas!!

It is a bright sunny day now but this morning we woke up to a winter storm warning. I took a couple photos after the snow quit.

I figure we got about 3 inches. I found out that the snow shovel was in the shed so I had to walk out there through the snow and I hadn't brought my boots on my trip. My mother-in-law has a beautiful back yard complete with a wishing well and bird bath as well as numerous bird feeders.

I have been here 3 weeks and counting. We go back to Hot Springs for his third immunotherapy treatment on Monday and then the last one is three weeks after that. I want to go home after that but I might have to wait until the end of February depending on what the scans show. It is nice having something new and different (like snow) happen here although I hope that it melts quickly.
