SOOO...

My parents are celebrating their fiftieth wedding anniversary this August. They love to dance and were married in the 50's so my sisters and I are throwing them a 50's Party. We are hoping that it is complete with a jukebox, poodle skirts, leather jackets, rock n roll music, and a lot of sock hop dancing. We also want to not forget that it is their FIFTIETH ANNIVERSARY though so are going to try to incorporate at least some GOLD into it and make it nice. I am the oldest so thus am heading it up. I have VERY reliable and talented sisters who are going to help every step of the way BUT I am going to ask for some ideas...mostly things to make sure are done that are easily overlooked. If you have ever had to do something like this, do you have any pointers? Ideas? Suggestions?

Other than that not much is new or different. Michael is enrolled in the local community college. His classes start tomorrow. Daniel is being a bum...I hope that changes soon.

I am busy sewing purses (well kinda busy) and making sure everything runs in my house like it is supposed to. Luckily my husband works hard and brings home the money.

that sounds like a busy busy project to take on, but if anyone can do it - you can! That sounds like an extremely fun party, I'm sure your parents will thoroughly enjoy themselves. Good luck! I don't have any real suggestions or pointers... but if I think of anything I'll let you know! You'll have to post some photos of the purses you're making. I got a sewing machine for Christmas (yay!!) and am looking for a cute purse/handbag pattern to attempt... Good luck Kim! and... you'll have to post your eyes :) and how that is all going for you, is the recovery going smooth?

How fun! We just had my parent's 50th august 2008! I'll have to think if there is anything to remember????....Albertson does good wedding cakes at not such a huge expense and they are just as good --- if I think of anything else I'll let you know! But have fun it only happens once!

Kim are you having the party up here? Do all of you girls have the older glass plates and matching cup set from the 50's. I only have a set of 4, maybe 8. In RS once, we just all brought our own and came up with 50 or so sets. Also I could show one of your sisters how to make mints, that match whatever color scheme you are having. Let me know if I can help out with anything.

Glenda, I am sorry but I don't know what you mean with the matching plates and cups. We are having the party up in Wichita...probably on the 22 of August in the 13th Street building (because it is bigger and has a better dance floor). I know how to make mints (the ones I do are with cream cheese and powdered sugar...are those the ones you make?). I've done them before but I'm not sure I have the molds we would want to use. I have a heart mold and a rose mold that I can think of off the top of my head. Do you have any molds? I'll let you know if I think of anything else.

Kim,
They are glass plates and cups that were used in the 50's when the guests came over for get-togethers or at weddings. The cups fit into the plate, they are just a cute little set. Usually they fit a sandwich, or something little, mints and the cup. I do have some molds for the mints and yes, they are made with powdered sugar and cream cheese. I can do wedding cakes, but it depends on the type of decorations you want on it. Or are you thinking sheet cakes?
Let me have your email and we can email easier. Mine is on my blog.
